Location: Nainital and Pauri District
Area:1288 sq. km.
Uniqueness:The natural uniqueness of the area was recognised long ago and so in 1936 Corbett attained the distinction as the first national park to be established in mainland Asia.
Flora:The important flora of the Corbett National Park comprises of the evergreen Sal (Shorea robusta) and its associate tress, the Sheesam (Dalbergia sissoo), the Kanju (Holoptelea integrifolia)-found extensively on the ridges-, the ber (Zizyphus mauritians), dhak (Butea monosperma), and bael (Aegle marmelos). Other important trees in the Corbett National Park are the occasional simal (Bombax cieba), jhingan (Lannea coromandelica) and khair (Acacia catechu) that blossom in the spring season, just before the starting of summer season.
Fauna:Mammals: The most commonly found ones are Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Dhole, Jackal, Yellow Throated Martem, Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Grey Mongoose, Common Otter, Porcupine, Clack-taped Hare besides the Chital, Spotted Deer, Para, Kakka, and the Barking Deer.
Birds: The Peacock, Jungle Fowl, partridge, Kaleej Pheasant, crow, vulture, parakeet, Laughing Thrush, oriole, kingfisher, drongo, dove, woodpecker, duck, teal, stork, cormorant and seagull form the species that inhabit the Corbett National Park.
Reptiles: Indian marsh crocodile, gharial, King cobra, common krait, cobra, Russels viper, python and monitor lizard are the most common ones
Accessibility:Air: Nearest airport is Pantnagar in district Nainital 97kms from Ramnagar.Rail: Ramnagar & Kathgodam are a convenient rail head for the park and are connected to Delhi and Lucknow by express trains. Road: State transport busses ply regularly from New Delhi, Moradabad and Haldwani to Ramnagar. The entry gate of the park are Amdana, Dhangarh, Durgadevi on Ramnagar Marchula road, Kharagate, Kalagarh, Pakhrau or Ramnagar- Kotdwar forest road and Vatanvasa, Teria or Lansdowne Dunagiri forest road.
Accommodation:There are many accommodation facilities at Ramnagar as well as at the Corbett National Park. Being one of the most frequently visited parks in the country, the forest department and other agencies have their hotels, lodges, rest houses, log huts for the visitors.

Uniqueness:The picturesque beauty and rich biodiversity of the park serve as its major attractions for both nature lovers as well as wildlife enthusiasts. In the year 1983, Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttaranchal was merged with Motichur and Chilla wildlife sanctuaries and made into Rajaji National Park. The park has been named after Late Sri C. Rajgopalachari (also known as Rajaji), a famous freedom fighter and first governor general of India .
Flora:The main species of plants in the park are the sal (Shorea robusta), baki (Anogeissue latifolia), sain (Terminalia tomentosa), haldu (Adina cordifolia), bachera (Terminalia ballerica), jhingan (Lannea coromandelica), kharpat (Garuga pinnata), phauri (Lagerstroemia parviflora), bula (Kydia calycina), badal (Stereospermum chelonoides), tun (Cadrela tonna), gutel (Trewia nudiflora), gular (Ficus glomerata), etc.
Fauna:The park is home to the Cheetal, hog deer, barking deer, Sambar deer, wild boar, antelopes such as the Nilgai, Goral and of course the Asian Elephant.The park also protects carnivores such as the Tiger and the Leopard and the lesser carnivores like the Jackal, Hyena, Jungle Cat, Leopard Cat, Civets, Himalayan Yellow-Throated Marten and Sloth Bears.
Accessibility:By Rail & Road – The park is easily accessible from Haridwar, Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Mussoorie. Dehradun (where the headquarter of the park is located) can be reached from most of the important places in India by rail or road. By Air – The city is also on the air network and connected to Delhi. The park has seven entry points accessible from all of the four cities mentioned above by road.
