Area:500 sq. km

Uniqueness:Reserve consists of moist deciduous forests in the lower reaches and evergreen and semi-evergreen forests with the natural grassland at higher altitudes. The entire protected area is formed of undulating high and medium hills running from North to South directions with very high precipitous and inaccessible hills.

Flora:Bamboos, canes and orchids

Fauna:Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Wild dog, Sambar, Barking Deer, Gaur (Indian Bison), Sloth bear, Hoolock gibbon, Binturong, Porcupine, Slow loris, Jungle cat, Pangolin, Black Bear, Giant squirrel, Common langur, Rhesus macaque, Wild boar, Otter.

Accessibility:By Air: The nearest airport is Lucknow, connected to many places in India including Delhi and Mumbai by regular flights. By Rail: The nearest railway stations are Dudhwa 4 km, Palia 10 km, and Mailani 37 km. Dudhwa, on North-Eastern Railway meter gauge section is connected via Mailani to Lucknow & Nainital. By Road: DUPSRTC and private bus services link Palia to Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, and Delhi etc. Buses ply frequently between Palia and Dudhwa.

Accommodation:The Forest Department provides for accommodation inside the Park at its various centres. Forest Rest Houses, Swiss Cottage Tents, and Tharu Huts are available at Dudhwa, Sathiana, Bankatti, Sonaripur, and Kila.

Season:Pleasant and warm climate throughout the year with moderate chill during November-December at higher altitude.
